Clever new mobile phone from Nokia measures carbon dioxide emissions

Nokia Eco Sensor Concept

20th December 2007

Motorists can keep in touch with their green side thanks to this clever mobile phone from Nokia – as it measures carbon dioxide emissions!

Called the Eco Sensor Concept, the mobile prototype features a hi-tech analyser. This can help owners monitor other gases, too, such as carbon monoxide, particulates and ground-level ozone.

That means drivers in traffic will be able to tell if high levels of harmful fumes from other vehicles are entering their car through the vents. The kit is only at the development stage at the moment, but the technology may be put into practice in future phones from the Finnish company.
