Rotary Mazdas storm in at the double

Mazda is poised to unveil two new Rotary-engined cars at the forthcoming Detroit Motor Show

Mazda Furai

29th December 2007

This pair of hot new Mazdas will put rotary engine fans in a spin. The car above is the 450bhp Furai, which hints that the Japanese firm could be considering producing a supercar. The prototype is based on an American Le Mans Series machine and, according to Mazda, blurs the line between trackday models and road-legal supercars. It will be unveiled at next month’s Detroit Motor Show.

Alongside the Furai on the Mazda stand will be a revised RX-8, which our spies have caught undergoing testing. The refreshed model will have an updated design, along with superior handing, stronger acceleration and improved quality.
