Green fuel first for UK
Britain’s first bioethanol plant to use waste sugar has opened in Wissington, Norfolk. It can turn 110,000 tonnes of sugar beet into 70 million litres of green fuel each year. Saab is the only firm to offer a biofuel engine across its entire UK range.

Happy camper Nissan
Now Nissan owners can really embrace the great outdoors! The manufacturer has launched a new range of accessories including a four-man tent that fits neatly into the rear of selected models.

Fury at points rethink
Nearly 90 per cent of motorists are outraged at Government plans to increase penalty points for speeding, according to car supermarket Motorpoint. The new laws would mean that drivers face a ban after only two offences.

Web tax price increase
Renewing your tax disc online saves queuing at the Post Office, but it now comes at a price. The DVLA has added a £2.50 charge for credit card payments, stating: “This covers the costs incurred for providing this service.”

Net buyers snub dealers
Internet-savvy car buyers are less likely to be loyal to one particular
garage, says vehicle evaluation firm EurotaxGlass’s. That’s according to 79 per cent of dealers who attended a recent conference held by the company.
