As this first picture shows, Peugeot is following the success of its Expert MPV and smaller Partner Combi with the unveiling of another van-based people carrier.
Peugeot claims to have invented the sector with its 1996 Combi. And the new Partner Tepee, based on 308 mechanicals, secures its place in this growing market.
Chunky styling should help it appeal to buyers wanting space and versatility, while the new Zenith roof system allows plenty of light into the cabin. There are three individual folding and removable rear seats, and the driving experience has been engineered to match that of a family hatch. Peugeot will also offer a chunky, off-road-style Outdoor version.
Prices have yet to be announced, but the Tepee is likely to cost more than the Combi when it arrives here in May. A month later, Peugeot’s sister brand Citroen will launch its class contender: the new Berlingo Multispace. Set to be more upmarket, it will still be competitively priced, and gets separate opening tailgate glass, removable back seats and aircraft-style overhead storage.
