Peugeot MPV gets power hike

The Peugeot 807 is getting a new look inside and out for 2008. Body-coloured bumpers and side mouldings feature on the revised exterior, along with chrome inserts and door handles.

And the MPV’s load-lugging credentials have been boosted by the addition of a more powerful 2.2-litre twin-turbo HDi diesel, which is only available in Executive trim. This gets black leather as standard.

The 170bhp unit has 370Nm of torque in six-speed manual guise, while the Tiptronic auto version delivers 407Nm. The range starts at £19,695 for the 2.0-litre S, rising to £27,695 for the HDi 170 Executive auto.

Edition additions to BMW range

Lots of kit for a little more money – that’s what BMW is offering with its new Edition trim.

The Edition ES costs an extra £250 on the 116i and 118d models, but adds £1,340 worth of options. And for £750 more, all four-cylinder 3-Series ES and SE cars are available in the trim, which features new colours, leather and other equipment worth £3,000.

The Z4 Edition Exclusive gets new colours and trim for an extra £1,045, while the Edition Sport boasts nearly £2,500 of options for an additional £775.

Insurer’s vow on vandal damage

A top insurance firm has announced a vandal-beating move which aims to save car owners money by protecting their no-claims bonus.

Direct Line says that new and existing customers with comprehensive cover won’t lose the discounts. And the new deal won’t cost them a thing, either.

Last year, seven per cent of owners experienced some form of deliberate damage to their motor, from keyed bodywork to slashed tyres and graffiti.

Spokesman Tony Chilcott said: “Damage like this is distressing enough without having the added worry of paying to fix it.”
