With a new look nose, revisions to the rear end and a dramatic new light design this comprehensive facelift represents a major evolution of the top selling two-seater, which will hit the road in the UK in April.
Set to star at this year’s Geneva Motor Show, the car is based on the same chassis as the current model – but is fitted with new air suspension and steering to improve the ride and handling.
However the most significant changes come under the bonnet, where there are two new fuel efficient engines on offer. The first, badged SL280 is a new 228bhp V6 model which Mercedes claims is capable of returning up to 30mpg, and will sprint from 0-60mph in only 7.8 seconds.
The V6 unit in the SL350 has also been significantly improved, and now offers 311bhp, a significant improvement over its predecessor’s 268bhp.
Inside drivers can expect a new look cabin, complete with a revised satellite navigation system. Prices are still to be confirmed. However it’s thought the new look is likely to add as much as £2,000 to the price tag of the current line up, with an SL350 now costing £65,000.
