Ungritted roads cause winter mayhem

Winter road dangers revealed as councils gear up for more cold weather

Poorly gritted roads have been responsible for as many as six million accidents, according to research by cover provider esure. It found that 20 per cent of motorists surveyed had been in a collision in icy conditions, and blames this number on routes not being sufficiently salted. A further 14 per cent of drivers admitted to colliding with their neighbours’ parked cars before even leaving their own street.
