For value for money, it’s hard to beat the new Citroen C5. The French firm has announced that prices will start at less than £16,000.
Bosses have high hopes that the latest model – on sale at the start of April – will rekindle Britain’s love affair with big Citroens, which was dampened by the lacklustre original.
The new entry-level 1.8-litre SX is £15,595, while the 1.6 HDi 110 VTR diesel, which is set to be one of the biggest sellers, is £17,595 – exactly the same as its predecessor. Topping the range is the 2.7 HDi V6 208 Exclusive, at £24,395.
In all, there are six engine options from launch – four diesels with outputs ranging from 110bhp to 208bhp, and petrol units with 127bhp and 143bhp. All three trim levels – SX, VTR+ and Exclusive – are equipped as standard with air-con, adaptive headlights and a fixed-hub steering wheel. There are also options packs which add massage seats and a 30GB hard disc music system.
