Executive saloon unveiled by Nissan
The name's familiar but the styling isn't - check out the new Nissan Maxima.
Is this the luxury Nissan that could give the firm the flagship it deserves?While most executive models from the Japanese firm will now be Infiniti badged, it's a Nissan that's making all the headlines today. But while this saloon may not wear its sister
firm’s premium badge, it’s certainly worthy of it.
This is the new Maxima – a sleek limousine that made its world debut at the New York Motor Show. With shark fin-style headlights and LED tail-lights, it certainly looks the part and gets a luxurious cabin too. It should also drive very well indeed, thanks to a chassis tuned at the Nurburgring circuit in Germany. Under the bonnet the saloon comes with a 290bhp 3.5-litre V6 engine that drives the front wheels through an automatic gearbox, complete with paddle-shifters.
With Infiniti launching the similarly-sized G37 saloon next year, though, it’s unlikely the Maxima will go on sale in Europe, but its headlights will appear on the next generation Nissan 350Z coupe.
