Milner Motors Air Car

Return of the flying car

Is there any future in cars that take to the sky? Milner Motors thinks there is.

Milner Motors Air Car

20th March 2008

Cars that think they are aeroplanes are nothing new, but this radical design from Milner Motors really does break fresh ground.

It's basically a hybrid of an electric car and light aircraft, and though at first glimpse might look a little crazy, it does offer some interesting technology.

With a lightweight electic engine providing the push on the ground, the car also gets two rotary engines, to drive two fans that will propel the car through the air. In ground mode, top speed is claimed to be 85mph thanks to a 40bhp electric motor. In the air, the composite bodied machine offers 300bhp and a top speed of 200mph.

This first prototype unveiled at the 2008 New York Motor Show is described as a non-flying, but drivable prototype - and according to a spokes person is "designed to demonstrate the solutions to problems inherent in building a car that flies."
