Swift joins boot camp

Saloon version of Swift breaks cover

06th April 2008

Suzuki is moving swiftly upmarket with a saloon version of its popular hatchback. Despite the strikingly different looks, the Swift Dzire only sports two major changes. Up front there’s a new grille, but most noticeable is, of course, the radically restyled rear.

The addition of the boot increases practicality over the hatch by effectively doubling the Swift’s load-carrying capability. It also gives the small car the presence of a much larger model.

Suzuki plans to sell the Dzire only in India, where it will compete with the Renault Logan and Tata Indigo. It’s the seventh model the Japanese firm has launched in the market in three years.
