Driving experience

05th April 2008

Put the fun back into driving with this great new motoring break. OpenRoadHire aims to help enthusiasts forget about the stresses of jammed roads and soaring bills with a thrilling experience in a Caterham.

The idea is simple: Just make your way to the firm’s headquarters in Scotland and then spend a day at the wheel of an SV Roadsport on some of the best roads in the UK.

The company is based in Perth – an hour from Glasgow and Edinburgh – and perfectly positioned for drivers who wish to explore the area’s amazing roads and scenery. As long as you are over 25 and under 70, and have no more than six points on your licence, the car is yours for 150 miles for £160.

Suggested routes can be provided by the company, and if you stray over your daily limit you’ll pay 50p a mile extra.

Unlike many experiences, there’s no instructor in the passenger seat, and you are left to your own devices, as long as you don’t take part in any racing or track days.

Comprehensive insurance is included, but the excess is £1,000 – unless you opt for the £25 waiver to bring it down to £250.
