Has the best just got better? MINI has improved its Cherished approved used car scheme, and the revamped website has just gone live.

Now, customers can search for second-hand models in more detail and compare shortlisted choices on screen. The clever site can even send you alerts by text or E-mail when a vehicle matching your requirements becomes available in a showroom.

In February, searches through the site totalled nearly 1million – a rise of 91.5 per cent on the same time last year. The Cherished scheme (at www.minicherished.co.uk) is unlike rival programmes as every car has a full service history and 12 months’ emergency breakdown cover.

Demand for used models is set to rocket because the first examples of the Clubman estate have hit auction houses. An amazing 78 BMW dealers took part at the resale debut of the Cooper S Clubman. Only seven models were available at the British Car Auctions sale in Nottingham, and they went for an average £18,150.
