It doesn’t look that desirable at the moment, but under the black cladding of this prototype is the new CTS Coupé – the car Cadillac says will attract buyers away from Audi’s A5!
It debuted as a concept at January’s Detroit Motor Show, and the production version will feature similar razor-edged lines, tall haunches, a stocky rump and a gaping square grille.
Cadillac has yet to confirm plans for the coupé model, although this spy shot proves that work is already well underway on the final road car, which is tipped to arrive next year.
Buyers will be treated to a wide range of standard equipment, such as a reversing camera and touch-pad door entry. Engine options are expected to be the same as in the CTS saloon, so there will be a choice of 2.8 or 3.6-litre V6 petrols.
A hot V model is also likely, with a 5.7-litre V8 which should deliver 0-60mph in less than five seconds. This will go head-to-head with the BMW M3 and Mercedes C63 AMG.
