Vauxhall has gone back to black! Auto Express revealed plans for the new griffin badge in Issue 1,002, but this is how it will look when it graces the imminent Insignia.

The big surprise is that the logo’s red background has been axed in favour of a classy black finish on car-mounted badges – although red continues on showroom signage and other promotional material.

The Vauxhall name features round the black logo’s upper rim, while the griffin outline is simpler. General Motors Europe design boss Mark Adams said: “We’ve decluttered the badge, and it’s bolder.”

It will debut in July at company HQ in Luton, Beds, before appearing at dealers in August. The badge will then be phased in across the rest of the range when cars are revised or replaced.
