...And it’s on road already!
BELIEVE it or not, you’re looking at the new MINI SUV! Beneath this strange yellow bodyshell lies the car’s chassis and running gear.
Parent firm BMW traditionally uses this type of basic body to test new models – the X6 was spied with the same kind of shell – as it allows engineers to fix the ‘hardpoints’ to a rigid frame. This step in the development process follows on from the stretched, raised Clubman-based prototypes used to evaluate the new 4WD system.
The mud-plugging MINI and its X1 sister car are being worked on side-by-side, and we can expect to see prototypes of the small BMW wearing a similar disguise on the road in the coming weeks.
