Air freshener

Snuff out smells at the double

Change the fragrance of your car's air freshener to suit your mood.

Air freshener

13th April 2008

It’s not always possible to change your car’s air freshener to suit your mood, but Ambi Pur is doing its bit to help with the release of its new 2 Switch.

The device can change between two supplied fragrances at the flick of a lever and is attached via a small clip. But it will not fit all vents, and on one test car, the position of the air flow unit’s adjuster made the freshener sit upright, making it appear unstable.

Sliding a plastic tab lets you switch between perfumes, while a second control allows you to select the fragrance’s strength. The quality of the controls is disappointing, though, and there was strong resistance when trying to change fragrances.

Against this, the intensity adjuster offers so little feedback that it feels as if it’s not attached to anything at all. Claimed to last more than two months, the freshener showed no signs of running out with us. As a solution for those who don’t want the same smell all the time, the Ambi Pur is a good idea.
