Sat-nav boxes clever

Slimline solution to in-car sat-nav without all the clutter of portable units.

Sat-nav

12th April 2008

If you can’t stand the cable clutter of portable systems, but still want to get sat-nav in your car, this latest product from in-car entertainment giant Clarion could be the answer.

The NAX973HD features a powerful processor to provide swift route calculation, while the massive 30GB hard drive gives plenty of storage for the comprehensive selection of 30 preloaded maps.

You will need to connect it to a compatible head unit or in-car AV set-up to display route guidance information, but thanks to its slimline design, the NAX973HD can be hidden away discreetly in the cockpit.

The newcomer incorporates an RDS-TMC tuner, so it will keep you up to date with the latest info on traffic jams, while a voice recognition feature lets you set your destination or access other functions without having to take your hands off the steering wheel.

What’s more, as with some factory-fit sat-navs, the Clarion will adapt to your driving style to provide accurate arrival times.
