Mondeo joins kit parade

New range-topping version of the Ford family favourite gets hot diesel motor.

Mondeo

05th May 2008

The Fiesta isn’t the only hot new car from Ford. There’s also a top-of-the-range version of the Mondeo family model.

Spiritual successor to the 153bhp ST TDCi, the Titanium X Sport uses the four-cylinder 2.2-litre turbodiesel. It pumps out 173bhp and a huge 400Nm of torque: 20bhp and 40Nm more than its predecessor. The newcomer is also available with the 2.5-litre petrol turbo from the Focus ST, and as a five-door or estate.

It sits on 18-inch Y-spoke alloys and has racy body-coloured side skirts, a rear spoiler plus a unique front bumper and diffuser. Beefed-up suspension provides sharper handling and less body roll in corners, while twin straight exhausts, parking sensors and bi-xenon lights also feature as standard.

Options include Ford’s advanced Bluetooth hands-free phone system, rain-sensing wipers and Alcantara trim with sporty red stitching, as well as alloy pedals, piano black interior detailing and a leather-clad steering wheel.
