Infiniti's going topless! Hot on the heels of the arrival of Nissan’s premium brand in Europe, the American market is set to gain a drop-top version of the stylish G37 coupé.

And to maintain the car’s elegant looks, the new convertible will feature a metal hard-top which will fold away at the flick of a switch. UK sales have yet to be confirmed, but it seems odds on to come here.

The Infiniti cabrio forms part of Renault-Nissan’s plans for expansion in 2008/09, which will see the launch of nine new models globally. Along with Infiniti’s arrival, British buyers can expect the Qashqai+2, 370Z and the new Cube supermini by the end of the 2008 financial year. Looking further ahead, Ghosn outlined a long-term plan called Nissan GT 2012. His pledge is that Nissan will launch 60 new models in five years, including a zero emissions electric car.
