Mega XF turns power player

jaguar xf

22nd May 2008

Meet the Jaguar XF with claws! Called the XF AJ 21, it’s a pumped-up version of the firm’s flagship saloon.

And it’s not only the exterior that’s been tampered with – all four engines offered with the standard car are available with power upgrades, culminating in the top-spec supercharged V8. The 4.2-litre unit has been bored out to 4.5 litres and power has increased from 410bhp to more than 500bhp. Other tweaks include sports suspension and a new stainless steel exhaust.

The car is the work of German tuner Arden. Up front, the AJ 21 has a new grille, bigger air intakes and a leaping cat mascot on the bonnet. At the back there’s a discreet spoiler and rear diffuser, while the look is finished off with 21-inch alloys.

But this car has some serious competition from Jaguar itself. The XFR, complete with 500bhp supercharged 5.0-litre V8, is due in showrooms early next year.
