Swedish firm Volvo has revealed the first details and prices of its eagerly anticipated XC60 SUV.

Due to arrive at dealers in October, the stylish crossover will go head-to-head with premium SUV rivals, such as the forthcoming Audi Q5 and the desirable Land Rover Freelander.

Three trim levels will be available from launch: S, SE and range-topping SE Lux. All versions will be available with two variants of the D5 turbodiesel, generating 161bhp and 182bhp respectively, while SE and SE Lux versions can also be specified with the 281bhp turbocharged T6 petrol.

S models feature 17-inch alloys, electronic climate control and MP3-compatible stereos as standard, while SE variants gain Hill Descent Control, an electrically powered driver’s seat and power door mirrors. Top spec Lux versions get 18-inch alloys, active headlamps and parking sensors.

Prices for the entry-level S models start at £24,750, while SE spec models are available from £26,250 and SE Lux variants costing upward of £28,750. Further pricing and specification details will be released at the next month’s British Motor Show.
