Gatso locator that updates itself

Road Angel release self updating technology to warn from speed traps.

gatso

20th June 2008

For those who forget to download the latest database for their speed trap locator, Road Angel has launched the Professional Connected which updates itself, using mobile phone GPRS technology.

When we started our test, it had already downloaded that day’s update, including information from other users.

On the road, it picked up the GPS quickly and gave accurate speed readings on a clear and uncluttered display. In addition, the unit emitted an audible warning right up to the Gatso. The comprehensive package includes two remote controls, which make the kit very easy to use, especially as it is designed to be placed right at the foot of the windscreen. But there were weak points. The mount is less flexible than the sucker brackets that come with most portable sat-navs. Nor did we like our unit’s occasional reluctance to start up, which also might have caused shorter battery life than the promised eight hours.
