Aftermarket running lamps make your car more visible and add some style...

Until now, LED daytime running lights have been the preserve of models like the Audi A4, A5 and R8. But Hella is offering a new kit that gives the look of a premium model at a fraction of the price.

The LEDayLine units are supplied with all the cabling needed to connect directly into the loom. A selection of screws and clip-on brackets ensures the 220mm wide strips are securely fitted to the car.

Five high-sheen, vapour-plated reflectors and super-bright LEDs give off a brilliant white light as soon as the ignition is turned. Daytime running lights are already compulsory in countries such as Sweden, and the maker claims they increase safety as other drivers are more likely to see you.

The low-powered units need only seven watts to run, so your car’s economy is barely affected. You’ll use 0.02 litres of fuel per tank – much less than with normal dipped headlights. And Hella says they’re durable enough to last the life of the vehicle.
