Ferrari California gallery

Ferrari's upcoming supercar is revealed for all to see.

This week's gallery is dedicated to Ferrari's forthcoming California. These exclusive pictures were taken at the firm's Modena HQ and for the first time give a full 360 degree tour of the stunning new GT. The images include detailed close-ups of the powerful 4.3-litre V8 engine as well as some never-before seen interior and gear-box shots.

There is also a host of new material on Ferrari's California microsite. This includes a real-time demonstration of the convertible roof collapsing as well as footage of some of the cars other features in action, including the F1 launch-control and 7-speed gear box.

1. Ferrari California

This week, Auto Express was granted exclusive access to Ferrari's stunning new California at the firm's Italian HQ in Modena.

2. Ferrari California

Behind the wheel for the very first time, we were able to put the cars key systems to the test, including the folding metal roof - shown here as it is stowed under the rear deck.

3. Ferrari California

With the roof folded away, the California looks sensational. The cabin still feels secure however, thanks to the bodywork's high waistline, low seating position and arcing windscreen.

4. Ferrari California

From the rear, its clear engineers have worked hard to disguise the bulky mechanical systems required to store the roof. Stacking the exhausts one on top of the other helps to create the illusion that the deck is much lower than it actually is.

The nose of the new California could only belong to a Ferrari! With its gaping grille, chiselled lines and large alloy wheels, it shares its look with the F430 and new F599 GTB.

Close inspection of the back of the new California reveals the car's complex aerodynamics. Venturi tunnels under the car improve high speed stability, and remove the need for cumbersome wings to be stuck to the bodywork.

In our aeriel shot, you can clearly see the California's strict two seat layout. With boot space compromised by the folding roof, Ferrari has at least engineered in space behind the two seats to store luggage.

8. Ferrari California

The heart of the California... A 4.3-litre V8 engine with 460bhp. The engine will rev to almost 8,000rpm and sounds absolutely sensational.

Ferrari's manetto system is setto be available on the new California, allowing drivers to adjust the car's traction control system, throttle response, and even gearchange speed.
