Reviving a car’s flat battery is usually a simple job – providing you have access to another vehicle and a set of jump leads.

But with the new Simple Start and Jump Starter from Black and Decker, you can power up your battery all on your own – especially handy when in remote or unfamiliar areas. The Simple Start is compact enough to fit in most gloveboxes and doesn’t need to be hooked up to the battery.

By simply plugging the device into the cigarette lighter and waiting for 15 minutes, it will power a flat battery sufficiently to get you on your way.
The portable, rechargeable and cordless gadget is suitable for petrol engines up to 2.0 litres. The firm also offers the Jump Starter, suitable for diesel engines up to 4.0 litres, and petrols up to 6.5. By attaching its clamps to the battery terminals, it provides 450 amps of power.
