Luxury Arnage goes out with a bang

Bentley’s Arnage range has come to the end of the line – and the firm is bowing out with this final edition of its flagship car.

The Final Series is the most luxurious version of the Arnage ever, and will debut at the Paris Motor Show. Exclusivity is guaranteed, as only 150 of the models will be produced.

With dramatic 20-inch five-spoke alloys and a retractable ‘Flying B’ mascot, it’s sure to make an impression. Although bosses claim the car is about gentlemanly understatement, it has plenty of show with its aluminium fuel filler cap. Inside, passengers will be able to toast the end of the model with drinks from a leather-trimmed cocktail cabinet, plus a Final Series flask and shot glasses.

Completing the first-class experience are two picnic tables and four wooden-
handled Bentley umbrellas. But while the Final Series features traditional luxury, it also packs some cutting-edge technology. UK-based Naim audio has created a stereo system exclusively for the car. This incorporates a 10-speaker dual subwoofer, iPod connector and an 1,100-Watt amplifier – the most powerful ever fitted to a production vehicle. That should give a sound to match the last night at the Proms!

Under the bonnet, engineers at Bentley HQ in Crewe, Cheshire, have left the mechanicals alone – so buyers still get a 500bhp 6.75-litre V8 with 1,000Nm of torque. This gives 0-60mph in 5.2 seconds and a top speed of 179mph – amazing for a two-and-a-half-tonne limo! Orders for the £195,000 model can
be placed from next month.
