It's arguably one of the world’s most evocative car brands, so Ferrari is bound to take centre stage at any motor show!

And unsurprisingly, the Italian firm's Paris stand was heaving with journalists ready for the debut of one of the most eagerly awaited cars of 2008 – the Ferrari California.

The newcomer appeared in two shades – traditional Ferrari red and a striking blue. This latter colour is the same hue seen on the original 250 GT California Spider, which was first unveiled in New York in 1957.

Ferrari president Luca di Montezemolo said the firm had created a car that was not only pure Ferrari in spirit, but also the most technologically advanced – with features such as a twin clutch seven-speed gearbox and folding hard top. He added that the California marks the beginning of Ferrari's commitment to reducing emissions, with a CO2 output of 'only' 305g/km.

However, with a 0-60mph sprint time of 3.9 seconds and 470bhp, the cleaner Ferrari is certainly not short of pace.
