The Focus is taking a leaf out of the Fiesta’s book! For the first time, Ford is introducing a sporty Zetec S variant of its best-selling family hatch – a badge normally associated with its smaller brother.
Based on the existing Zetec, the newcomer adds a bodykit, comprising chunkier front and rear spoilers, as well as lower side skirts, for a more dynamic look which should appeal to younger buyers.
Also thrown in are 17-inch wheels and race-style aluminium pedals. To mark it out from lesser models, an exclusive ‘S’ badge is attached to the front fender.
And if that’s not enough, two additional styling upgrades can be specified. A Sport pack brings 18-inch alloy wheels and privacy glass, while the WRC pack adds a rear diffuser, plus World Rally Championship chequered flag bodywork stickers and branded scuff plates on the door sills.
Both three and five-door versions are on offer, and they get the same choice of engines as the Zetec. That means three petrols with outputs ranging from 113bhp to 143bhp, and three diesels, including the 134bhp 2.0-litre, with a
diesel particulate filter and Ford’s latest PowerShift Auto.
The Zetec S will command a £750 premium over the Zetec – which looks good value given that it offers more than £1,600 worth of additional kit. That means prices start from £15,995, while the Sport and WRC packs add £500 and £200 respectively. The Focus Zetec S is in showrooms now.
