It's returned from the dead! Three years after being axed, Caterham has reintroduced the best-selling Superlight R300 with a new engine.
The latest version promises even more in the way of thrills, as its tuned 2.0-litre Ford Duratec powerplant delivers 175bhp – which is 10bhp more than the old K Series unit.
With a kerbweight of only 515kg, the new R300 has a 339bhp-per-tonne power to weight ratio, and its 0-60mph time has been reduced by 0.4 seconds to 4.5 seconds. Like its older brother, the R500, the car gets technological developments such as keyless ignition and a flush button dash design. Track day extras such as a limited slip differential, dry oil sump and lap timer are all options. Prices start at £24,995 if you want to build it yourself, or £27,995 factory-made.
Deliveries begin in spring.
