There’s more to Porsche these days than just a pretty face. And to prove it, the firm used its Bologna stand to showcase green technology, as well as its latest supercars.
Getting their first European unveiling and taking pride of place was the Boxster and the new Cayman, driven this week, both of which are now offered with the firm’s new PDK auto shifter.
But they shared the stand with a petrol-electric hybrid concept Cayenne, set to arrive as early as 2010, according to the firm. Its appearance comes just days after the firm announced it would sell the SUV in diesel guise for the first time in Europe from February. Only available on the entry-level model, the new oil-burner is set to outstrip the petrol variant in the UK.
The Cayenne isn’t the only car set to get hybrid technology, either. Sources revealed the firm’s new four-door coupe will follow shortly afterwards. Porsche is also working with VW and Audi to develop an all-electric version of the Cayenne, it revealed, which could also be here as early as 2012.
