Ever wondered what an iPod on wheels would look like? Well here’s your answer!
Called the iMo, this futuristic bubble car is the brainchild of French designer Anthony Jannarelly, and represents his vision for urban transport in 2024.
The fully electric vehicle, which can be charged wirelessly via electric induction or with a more conventional plug, seats three in a 2+1 configuration. But there’s no dashboard or driving controls - the iMo is fully autonomous. Its creator refers to it not as a car but as a robot, because of its ability to think for itself.
Among its myriad of functions, it can mimic a taxi and pick you up from any location, take the kids to school or drive you home after a party. It can even change its shape using a unique material known as Shape Memory Alloy (SMA), while the minimalist styling draws inspiration from Apple’s cutting edge range of products.
Feeling adventurous? There’s a manual driving mode too, but instead of a steering wheel and pedals, it uses motion sensors to detect various hand signals - although the automatic mode always remains active to avoid any potential accidents.
The two-wheeler balances using gyroscopic technology from the Segway personal transporter, and at about half the length of a Fiat 500, its ultra-compact dimensions should ensure it’s a doddle to park in tight city spaces.
