If there was one car guaranteed to get the struggling US auto industry all revved up at the Detroit Motor Show, it was this – the facelifted Ford Mustang Shelby GT500.
Developed by the blue oval’s Special Vehicle Team and race legend Caroll Shelby, it has an aggressive new exterior with a modified bumper and splitter for more downforce, plus a set of trademark GT500 racing stripes. Power comes from a supercharged 540bhp 5.4-litre V8 – 225bhp more than the standard car’s 4.6 unit! Cabin features include SYNC, a voice-activated control system developed with Microsoft.
The model will be left-hand drive only, but some cars will make it to the UK by import.
