Audi R8 V10 at Detroit

Audi's flagship just got faster

Audi R8 V10

15th January 2009

It’s the fastest car ever to wear the four-rings badge - and at last we’ve had the chance to admire Audi’s R8 V10 in the flesh at the Detroit Show.

Featuring a 518hp 5.2-litre V10 derived from the Lamborghini Gallardo’s unit, 0 – 60mph is dispatched in 3.9 seconds, while the top speed is a blinding 196mph.

And despite being 31kg heavier and 100hp more powerful than the V8 version, the V10 still delivers 20.6mpg, just 0.2mpg shy of the ‘standard’ car’s figure.

With prices starting at £99,575 for the manual version, you can get your hands on one for £40,000 less than the Gallardo LP560-4. The order books are already open and first deliveries start in Spring 2010.
