Hybrid C-Cactus to spike its rivals

After debuting in 2007, C-Cactus has now got production go-ahead.

05th February 2009

Prick up your ears! Auto Express has learned that Citroen’s C-Cactus is heading into production – and it will be one of the most eco-friendly models the firm has ever built.

It originally debuted at the 2007 Frankfurt Motor Show, with a 70bhp 1.4 HDi diesel-electric drivetrain. But insiders have hinted that two other power sources – electric only, plus a petrol unit emitting less than 100g/km of CO2 – are also on the drawing board. And while it was thought the car could replace the C4, it will be offered as a standalone model, sitting alongside the new C3 Picasso.

Citroen will also reveal more about its new badge – a revamp of the double chevron, to mark its 90th anniversary – plus details of its small car plans for the Geneva show. Log on to autoexpress.co.uk for all the latest.
