Is the Silver Ghost set to rise again? Reports suggest the next Rolls-Royce will wear one of the most famous badges in motoring when it’s released next year.
Until now, the baby brother to the Phantom has been codenamed RR4. Set to take on the Bentley Continental GT, the car will be based on Rolls owner BMW’s 7-Series, and will arrive in the first half of 2010.
The saloon will be quickly followed by a coupé and convertible, and as well as a choice of V8 or V12 petrol units, there may be a diesel or hybrid version. Nearly 8,000 Silver Ghosts were built during its 20-year production run from 1906, and pristine examples are now rated among the most valuable cars in the world.
