WD-40 Smart Straw - tested

Leading lube has a treat in straw!

06th March 2009

Even though WD-40 is the world’s number one multi-purpose lubricant, when you lose the red straw – which helps with precision spraying – it can be a real pain. But the company now aims to solve the problem once and for all with its new Smart Straw can.

The pivoting straw means you can choose wide or precision spray patterns – we found the latter useful for lubing some sticky locks on one of our test vehicles.

As it is permanently attached, the straw was impossible to mislay. But because there’s no lid on the can, it’s easy to spray some WD-40 by mistake.
We tested the product for durability by dropping it on the floor, and while some of the plastic chipped, the function of the straw wasn’t affected.

So while it doesn’t look groundbreaking, for those DIY motorists who are sick of losing their WD-40’s straw, this can makes a real difference.
