Polishing a car with a machine and an abrasive formula is not something we’d recommend for beginners – get it wrong, and you can damage the paint. However, the new Cyclo Polisher claims to be so safe, even novices can use it without any worries.
It’s been available in the US for some time, and its polished metal finish is reminiscent of the aluminium aircraft fuselage it was originally designed to shine. Two counter balance weights in each rotating head meant there was no vibration when using the Cyclo. But we found it a bit heavy, and were disappointed at the selection of polishing pads included given how much it costs.
Using a standard abrasive polish, we noticed the device made a marked difference on our test panel, removing most swirls and light scratches in minutes. If we had used a more aggressive compound for longer, we are sure the Cyclo Polisher would have lifted the worst of the blemishes.
Yet while the newcomer provides excellent results for beginners, we can’t look past that price. If it wasn’t quite so expensive, we’d recommend this as an essential addition to any owner’s workshop.
