How low can we go? That's the question top brass at Hyundai are asking themselves, as they seek to build a similar priced car to Tata's Nano.

The budget micro car has seen interest from Hyundai, who have said that while they don't want to compete with the Nano, the car "will expand the automotive market".

Hyundai joins Ford, GM and VW in looking towards the domestic markets of India in these difficult times for manufacturers.

Vice President Young Kil Chun says the 0.8 and 1-litre petrol-engined car would be available when the basic model is launched in the second half of 2010. However, Auto Express can reveal that a small diesel vrsion will be made, especially for Europe.

You won't have to wait too long to see pictures either. Indian engineers are working with their Korean colleagues to test the project, so will mean the car will no doubt be picked up by our snappers soon!
