It’s the hottest model yet to wear the VXR badge, and now Vauxhall has revealed prices and a host of new details for the Insignia VXR.
Packing 321bhp and an advanced four-wheel drive system, Vauxhall’s powerhouse starts from £30,995 for the Hatchback and Saloon variants and £32,320 for the spacious Sports Tourer – that’s £3,265 and £3,280 less than the equivalent Audi S4 respectively.
Add Vauxhall’s DVD satellite navigation to the options list and the price tags rise to £31,810 and £33,120. Other notable options include 20-inch forged alloy wheels for £1,100 in place of the standard 19-inch items, and a leather upholstery pack for £1,300, which includes eight-way electrical adjustment for the seats and power folding mirrors.
Under the bonnet is a turbocharged 2.8-litre V6, which propels the Insignia from 0-60mph in 5.6 seconds and on to a limited top speed of 155mph. A 10 millimetre lower ride height and suspension setup honed on the infamous Nurburgring, mean this hot-rod isn’t all about grunt, there should be a finesse to the handling, too.
The Insignia is scheduled to hit UK showroom in September, when it will become the sixth model to join the VXR family.
