The 2010 model of Kia’s SUV, the Sportage, has been photographed during early testing. The disguised vehicle is noticeably larger than the model it replaces, allowing for a roomier cabin.
The next-gen Sportage will be powered by the same 2.0-litre diesel ‘R’ engine from the Hyundai iX35 giving it 184hp and 400Nm of torque. Due to a preference for high power petrol engines, sources claim that the diesel will not make it to the American market. However, a V6 petrol engine and a 2.0-litre petrol engine are expected to be available in all markets.
In an attempt to boost its eco-credentials the Sportage will be available with stop/start technology.
More details will be released at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September.
