The world’s cheapest car has been put through its European crash test paces – and passed!
The £1,400 Tata Nano got the all-clear at the MIRA facility in Warks – taking it a step closer to going on UK sale. Experts destroyed two examples of the Indian city model: one in a side impact, the other in a head-on crash. Next up is to determine how safe the Nano is compared to other cars – that’s the role of independent tester Euro NCAP.
Tata – which also owns Jaguar Land Rover – says it’s optimistic the vehicle will be awarded four out of a maximum five stars. Only cars fitted with electronic stability control as standard get the full Euro NCAP score.
