Get ready for some inside information! Just hours after the first sumptuous exterior shots, we’ve found the first interior photo of Ferrari’s new baby – the 458 Italia.

We discovered this exclusive shot lurking on Ferrari’s home page and it reveals even more about the newcomer.

Not only are the sculpted air vents and leather-wrapped dash unlike anything seen before in a Ferrari, but a unique configuration has done away with indicator and wiper stalks entirely – instead moving all the controls onto the multi-function steering wheel.

Indicators are now two simple push buttons, while the engine start button, adjustable dampers and ‘Manettino’ traction control dial all fall easily to hand. A selection of other switchgear for the sat-nav, stereo and air-con controls are neatly intergrated into the dash architecture creating a refreshingly uncluttered cabin.

Taking pride of place on the instrument cluster is the tachometer, with enough space for the needle to swing all the way to it’s 9,000rpm redline.

Most interesting of all though is the green diagram on the TFT display behind the wheel. It's a handy display to tell drivers when the engine and tyres are up temperature - indicated by the four wheels and engine turning green and the message 'Go' in the box above.
