Adding go-faster stripes is an easy way to get cars flying out of showrooms – and it’s even worked for Ford’s Transit!
The company says its racy SportVan has proved such a big sales hit, it has been forced to produce another 80 – this time in white, instead of blue.
A total of 1,000 models have been snapped up in only 18 months, bosses claim, as buyers fall for the van’s Focus ST-style alloy wheels, Le Mans stripes, side skirts and twin exhausts. Under the dramatic body is the standard Transit’s 138bhp 2.0-litre diesel
engine and six-speed manual gearbox, but there are more changes inside, with a six-CD stereo, cruise control, air-con and tinted glass.
The SportVan is also fitted with rain-sensing windscreen wipers and auto headlights. Buyers can choose from an options list that includes satellite navigation and leather-trimmed seats.
If white with blue stripes is a bit too brash for you, the special Transit can also be specified in black or grey, both with silver stripes. The SportVan is on sale now, priced ÂŁ22,030.
