New XJ’s personal service goes online

New online spec service for Jaguar's XJ

Here’s a neat idea Jaguar fans are sure to love. The new XJ won’t arrive until the start of 2010, but buyers can spend the time until then getting their dream car’s spec just right – thanks to this new configurator.

The online build tool at www.jaguar.com lets purchasers and fans pick from four engine options and spec levels, before switching between the various colours of sumptuous leather and racking up the options.

For £850 you can have a dual-screen function for the in- dash monitor. This shows two different images on the same screen – for example, a DVD to the passenger and sat-nav to the driver. It comes as standard on the £85,000 Supersport, which is powered by a 503bhp supercharged V8.

Upmarket interior trim options include Cashew Softgrain leather seats with a Truffle upper facia, while the already-luxurious spec can be further enhanced with goodies such as a 1,200W Bowers & Wilkins stereo at £1,350, or heated and ventilated rear seats (£470).

The 271bhp 3.0 V6 diesel is expected to be the big-seller, offering a six-second 0-60mph time and an official economy figure of 40.1mpg. Orders for the new XJ are being taken now, with prices from £52,500.
