Take a look inside Aston’s new, four-door sports car. This is the new Rapide in all its glory – giving the best look yet at the newcomer. As well as front and side views, these official CAD illustrations reveal the interior for the first time.
Apart from the obvious DB9 influences, there are some notable exterior differences. A longer wheelbase, pillarless rear doors, LED headlamps and 20-inch wheels help the Rapide stand out.
Inside, it will be a strict four-seater, with a centre console running down the length of the cabin. Sources have revealed that back seat passengers will get their own air-con controls, as well as individual state-of-the-art in-car entertainment systems. Up front the cockpit will be familiar to DB9 owners, although the Rapide is the first Aston to get an electric parking brake.
The boot has a maximum capacity of 350 litres, and can accommodate two sets of golf clubs. It also comes with a clever hinged divider that splits the load bay in two, and allows rear seat passengers to stow items behind them in the cabin.
The Rapide debuts at the Frankfurt Motor Show next month, and first hit the road early next year.
