Road cars don’t come much more extreme than this! Meet the new Porsche GT3 RS – the pinnacle of the firm’s engineering capabilities.
It picks up where the GT3 left off, and bridges the gap between racing cars and standard 911s.
It’s designed to be the most focused 911 money can buy. Under the huge carbon fibre rear wing is the GT3’s 3.8-litre flat-six boxer engine, but with an extra 15bhp. That gives it 444bhp – 35bhp up on the previous GT3 RS.
Power is channelled through a six-speed manual gearbox to the enormous 12-inch-wide rear tyres, while the body and track are wider than before, too. Gear ratios have been shortened, for more explosive acceleration. Expect a 0-60mph sprint in around four seconds, and a top speed of 190mph-plus.
As well as the rear wing, racing cues include a roll cage in place of the rear seats, a titanium sports exhaust and semi-slick tyres. The firm will even replace the lead-acid battery with a 10kg lighter lithium-ion unit. The GT3 RS is on sale in February, priced from £100,760.
