The electric dream continues for Tesla! Following news that the firm has reached profitability, it’s taken the wraps off its Roadster Sport – an even more powerful version of the standard car.
First revealed at the Detroit Motor Show in January, the Lotus Elise-based model gets an electric motor that generates an extra 40bhp over the regular car, taking output to 288bhp.
As a result, Tesla claims the Roadster Sport will cover 0-60mph in 3.7 seconds – that’s two-tenths quicker than the Roadster. Top speed is around 120mph.
A price tag in the region of £100,000 is expected. A more affordable Tesla, the BMW 5-Series-rivalling Model S, will launch next year for about £40,000.
