The Frankfurt show isn’t being completely dominated by eco warriors – Lamborghini stayed true to its roots by unveiling its Reventón Roadster.
The 6.5-litre V12 monster looks every inch a concept car, but bosses at the Italian firm have confirmed plans for a limited production run. Fewer than 20 lucky collectors will get the chance to add the open-topped Reventón to their garage – and they have all been sold.
The matt black mid-engined Roadster is powered by a 661bhp engine and can hit a top speed of 205mph. It sprints from 0-62mph in 3.4 seconds thanks to its permanent four-wheel-drive transmission and quick-shifting automated manual gearbox. The E-gear set-up has six ratios.
A pair of pop-up roll hoops behind the cabin protect its occupants in the event of a rollover, and its designers have done away with traditional analogue instruments inside. Instead information is displayed on a pair of LCD screens - although the driver can choose a screen designed to look like old-fashioned dials.
Wealthy buyers lucky enough to place an order for the Reventón Roadster will pay 1.1million Euros for the privilege, and the first cars will be delivered in October.
