Watch out MINI! Citroen has revealed the showroom-ready version of its new premium supermini – the DS3.
It looks identical to the concept that debuted earlier this year, and is the first of a new range of luxurious models that carry the 'Distinctive Series' badge, which seek to take Citroen upmarket.
The DS3 is based on the new C3 supermini – which was also revealed at the Frankfurt Motor Show – but the luxury model gets a sharper look, with LED headlights and contrasting roof colours. Indeed, personalisation is key to the appeal of the DS3, as customers are allowed to choose from a variety of roof and interior trim colours.
The range-topping engine for the newcomer is a 150bhp 1.6-litre turbo petrol. Diesels will also feature.
Prices have yet to be revealed, but the newcomer is expected to start from around £12,500 – about the same as a MINI One – rising to £19,000.
Sales will start next spring, but Citroen has already made 100 DS3 models available now for early delivery. Each comes pre-specified, so customers won't be able to choose any colours or options.
